Kawasaki ZX-6R is the class-leading morocycle in 2009.
The middleweight class’s relatively low buy-in results in the largest amount of sales among sportbikes, so there isn’t a segment of motorcycles more keenly contested among manufacturers. When Kawasaki introduced the ZX-6R in 1995, it was the first middleweight sport bike, since the 1992 GSXR600 with a frame of aluminum . The Kawasaki ZX-6R had a dry weight of 182.0 kg and wet weight of 206 kg. This motorcycle is capable of accelerating from zero to 97 km/h in only 3.7 seconds. Costly (to the OEMs) updates to the 600s arrive every two years in a never-ending quest to one-up their rivals. And it’s for these reasons why the ZX-6R is so redoubtable. Kawasaki has built a motor that handily out-guns its 600cc rivals, but just as impressive is a 22-lb lighter machine that handles like a champ, aided by Showa’s fabulous new Big Piston Fork. The Kawasaki ZX-6R has perhaps the best modulated front brakes in the motorcycle world. Doubly impressive is that the Ninja took top honors on both the street and track – no mean feat. Triumph’s Daytona 675 gives the ZX a run for its money, but among four-cylinder middleweights, the nasty and nimble Ninja stands clearly at the top of this ultra-competitive heap.

Volvo has announced that they`re working an all-electric Volvo C30, but they currently have no plans to put it into production.
The firm, located in Sweden will show a fully working car of the all-electric C30 as part of the Innovation for Life event, which will be held after the end of Auto Show in Frankfurt this year.
Autocar dot com anounced that the C30 is a car that Volvo talked about previously years in order to show a Recharge concept shown a several years ago.
The autocar dot com source says that one of the cars that will be shown will C30 an all-electric car. The car will be shown at the Inovation for Life.
But says also: “At this moment, we aren`t considering putting the C30 into production.”
BMW has added a new range-topping model to its latest 7-series lineup in the form of the twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12-powered 760i.
Unveiled at the New York motor show, BMW’s latest upper luxury sedan holds true to tradition by continuing to be sold in both standard- and long-wheelbase versions, with the first North American deliveries set for this summer.

Pricing has not yet been announced, but U.S. buyers should bank on a hefty premium over and above the 750i.
Building on the bold new look established on lesser versions of the current generation 7-series, the 760i receives a number of identifying touches, including a bolder chrome surround and unique insert for its signature kidney grille, chrome V12 badges with integrated indicator repeater units down the flanks, standard 19-inch wheels shod with 245/45 (front) and 275/40 (rear) tires and a reworked rear valance with rectangular chromed tailpipes.
The 760i is the first BMW model to receive a new 60-degree twin-turbocharged V12 direct injection gasoline engine–the same unit earmarked for Rolls-Royce’s upcoming production version of the 200EX concept car.
The new powerplant possesses the same 6.0-liter displacement as its naturally aspirated predecessor. But with the help of forced induction and an unusually high 10.0:1 compression ratio, it is claimed to deliver 544 hp at 5,000 rpm, along with a whopping 553 lb-ft of torque in a rev band that stretchs from 1,500 rpm to 5,000rpm.
Channeling drive to the rear wheels is a new eight-speed automatic gearbox developed in cooperation with German transmission specialist ZF. It will trickle down into other BMW models within the next couple of years.
Despite its hefty weight (BMW puts the standard wheelbase 760i at 4,631 pounds and the long wheelbase 760Li at 4,785 pounds), acceleration is stronger than many highly fancied performance cars. BMW puts the 0-to-62-mph time for both versions at just 4.6 seconds, with top speed limited to 155 mph.

Like all recent BMW models, the 760i receives a raft of fuel saving measures under the company’s EfficientDyanmics banner, including an alternator which decouples under hard acceleration to reduce drag on the engine, as well as regenerative braking that stows electricity created under braking in the battery for latter use. BMW puts combined average fuel consumption for both the standard and long wheelbase at 18.2 mpg.

The S-class of Mercedes Benz in 2010 presents s hybrid powertrain for the first time. It’s a proof that the company shifts from diesel to a different approach that aims at efficiency and it finally acknowledges the need for hybrids on the market. It represents a trend on the road to electric propulsion. For the first time in Mercedes S400 Hybrid are used lithium-ion batteries .In comparison the Tesla Roadster merely uses Li-Ion batteries. The systems of Mercedes and Lexus perhaps would have been more efficient and differ from each other if different planets were used for their design place. The approach used in Lexus adds the additional USD 30000 to the sedan’s price and nearly GBP 600 more when a comparison must be made with the conventional LS460L. What you are presented with for this extra money is a 221 hp electric motor, a system with four wheel drive, a 5 liter V8 and batteries of type nickel metal hydride.
What makes Mercedes different in this approach is that it has taken a different road, which adds less weight to the car and the complexity is reduced. Like Honda’s hybrid powertrain, the Mercedes has an electric motor that is shaped like ring and placed between the automatic transmission and the engine. Following Lexus trend Mercedes also uses shutdown of engine at stoplights and braking regeneration.

Perhaps the first car that comes to your mind when you look for maximum gas mileage will be the hybrid Toyota Prius. Its shape that is distinctive and the technology used to produce it attract the attention. It’s not only a symbol of fuel efficiency but the car is known also to be friendly to the environment.
You’ll easily forget about other competitors for fuel efficiency because they either use electric motors or their look isn’t unique. The diesel version of the compact sedan Volkswagen Jetta doesn’t boost with its technology allowing it to achieve on a highway 41 miles using just one gallon.
Jetta is not a Prius competitor when talking about gas mileage. It is rated by EPA for 34 miles per one gallon when mixed driving and only 33 miles per gallon when an automatic transmission is used. The Prius receives 46, but have in mind that driving gently will cost you more in gas mileage than driving vehicles that are powered conventionally. The Prius’s unleaded fuel is also less expensive that diesel.
The Jetta’s premium qualities on the other hand distinguish it from its competitors that are high-mpg and from the Prius. All the features of Prius are designed for gas mileage maximization. While tires that are extra-hard have low rolling resistance, they also reduce the handling grip and the smoothness of the ride. The car has no excess of power and the luxury and refinement levels are low.
